Cartoon Network and Cyberbullying Research Center Release First-Ever National Research Findings on Cyberbullying Among Tweens

Cartoon Network and the Cyberbullying Research Center released results of the first-ever nationally representative survey focused on instances of cyberbullying among tweens, ages 9-12. The study, launched as part of the Cartoon Network's award-winning Stop Bullying: Speak Up initiative, found that one in five (21%) tweens have experienced cyberbullying in some way: either by witnessing cyberbullying (15%), having been cyberbullied themselves (15%), or by cyberbullying others (3%).

As part of its award-winning Stop Bullying: Speak Up initiative, Cartoon Network is joining with PACER's National Bullying Prevention Center (NBPC) and 826 National to inspire kids in communities nationwide to make a difference by including someone. This new collaboration will come to life through a joint campaign, called Include Someone, Make a Difference kicking off this Fall in recognition of October's National Bullying Prevention Month, initiated by PACER Center in 2006, with a goal of creating inclusive communities that stop bullying before it starts.

Cartoon Network and Pilot Pen Unite to Erase Bullying

Cartoon Network and Pilot Corporation of America (Pilot Pen) are speaking up against bullying through a two- year partnership that provides students with the platform and creative resources to share their individual stories of empathy and inclusion. This collaboration adds to Cartoon Network's award-winning "Stop Bullying: Speak Up" pro-social initiative with 826 National, which encourages young people to speak up and stop bullying before it starts. The newly minted alliance will help amplify Pilot Pen's ongoing "Erase Bullying For Good" campaign with its line of FriXion Erasable Gel Ink Pens.

Cartoon Network supports kids with tools to "stop bullying before it starts" by focusing on kindness, caring and empathy

Nearly two-thirds (62%) of 9- to 11-year olds say they have been bullied at least "once or twice" and children who say they prioritize "caring about others" are far less likely to bully and more likely to reach out to other kids in kindness, according to a major national survey commissioned by Cartoon Network. The survey was designed by VJR Consulting in consultation with the Making Caring Common project (MCC) at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. According to the survey, a vast majority (70%) say it would help kids their age be kinder if adults in charge of our country set a better example of how to treat others.

As bullying continues to be a significant social issue impacting kids, Cartoon Network, a division of Turner, is partnering with Chuck E. Cheese's to support the annual award-winning initiative: Stop Bullying: Speak Up. Now in its seventh year, the multi-platform, pro-social campaign was created by Cartoon Network with experts in the field to raise awareness, build partnerships and empower young people to speak up against bullying safely and effectively. Kicking off today, the partnership runs throughout the month of October, coinciding with National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month.

Cartoon Network Exceeds Goal of Recruiting One Million People

Cartoon Network, through its award-winning Stop Bullying: Speak Up campaign, issued a national call-to-action to recruit one million people to speak up against bullying as a kick-off to National Bullying Prevention Month. As of this week, the network is proud to report that more than 1.1 Million kids, parents, educators and others to date accepted the challenge and "spoke up" against bullying.
